Hanson named O-D Youth All-American
2009-12-21
Rhett Hanson, 10, of Highlands Ranch was recently named an Offense-Defense Youth All-American for his 2009 season of football with the Highlands Ranch Mustangs, under the coaching of Bob Baker.
Hanson was among more than 5,000 football players who tried out for the award this summer.
O-D Youth All-Americans will be recognized during its fourth annual O-D All-American Bowl Jan. 2 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., which will be broadcast live on national television on Fox College Sports.
With enough interest, youth all-americans may be able to participate in the inaugural O-D Youth All-American Bowl, which would include three days of practice and the bowl game itself.
Despite being age 10, Hanson, a fullback and defensive end, was selected to the 11-13-year-old age division, where he is the only player from Colorado in the class. He is one of only three players in Colorado selected as an O-D Youth All-American, with Johnson Cooper, 9, of Denver and Mitchell Branson, 14, of Mancos, both runningbacks/linebackers, being the other two.
