Ford leads West to victory

League City 11-year-old Jared Ford quarterbacked for the West team and led an 18-0 win at the Offense-Defense Youth All-American Bowl on Jan. 2 at Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Ford, who also guided the League City Cowboys Senior Retro Team to a Super Bowl championship Nov. 14, 2009, was one of 22 Houston-area athletes who participated in the O-D Youth Bowl.
The other local youths selected for the all-star game from a group of more than 10,000 candidates across the country were Ryder Anderson (Katy), Blair Benton (Houston), Priest Bluitt (League City), Hunter Bradford (Tomball), Dylan Farley (La Porte), Irvin Green (Katy), Keon Greene (Spring), A.J. Harper (Katy), Joel Holmes (Houston), Jackson Hosemann (Cypress), Joshua Jones (Houston), Chris Leagan (Pasadena), Michael Leagan (Pasadena), Carter Lewis-Cox (The Woodlands), Ryan Mullinnix (Conroe), Andrew Prado (Houston), Tre'von Reed (Cypress), Stephen Scott (Pearland), Maurice Walker (Houston), Samuel Watson (Friendswood) and Calvin White (Pearland).
